Communication

Relevant, proportionate and connected to the clinical purpose.

Brent communicates directly with referrers when clinically indicated and consistent with consent, legal duties and any agreed funding arrangement. Reports are not treated as an automatic by-product of therapy.

Shared care

Communication can support coordinated care, medication review, risk management and clarity about each professional’s role.

Third parties

Where a funder, employer or agency is involved, the requested role and reporting expectations are clarified before work begins.

Common questions

Referral and communication.

Can a client contact Axis before the referral is sent?

Yes. A prospective client can contact Axis directly to choose an appointment format and begin arranging the appointment before documents are transferred.

Will the referrer receive updates?

Communication is guided by the referral purpose, clinical need, consent and any funding requirements. Brent clarifies this with the client and referrer rather than assuming a standard reporting arrangement.

Can Axis accept urgent or crisis referrals?

Axis is not an emergency or after-hours crisis service. Immediate danger requires 000. Urgent mental health support should be directed to an appropriate crisis or acute service.

When will a professional referral be acknowledged?

Axis acknowledges professional referrals after they are received and contacts the client or referrer to arrange the next step.
