Therapy for adults

A place to understand what is happening and work towards change.

Individual therapy across adulthood for people who want thoughtful, experienced support with current distress, longstanding patterns or the impact of difficult experiences.

Reasons people come

You do not need to fit your experience into a single label.

Difficulties often overlap. The first task is to understand how the concern shows up in your life, what shaped it and what may be keeping it going now.

Anxiety and worry

Persistent worry, panic, social fears, avoidance or a sense of always being on alert.

Low mood and depression

Loss of motivation, withdrawal, hopelessness, self-criticism or difficulty finding meaning.

Trauma and its effects

Past or recent experiences affecting safety, sleep, relationships, concentration or self-belief.

Compulsions and stuck patterns

OCD, perfectionism, repetitive coping patterns or habits that provide short relief but narrow life.

Health, pain and adjustment

Living with illness, chronic pain, medical treatment, disability or major changes in function.

Identity and belonging

LGBTIQA+SB experiences, shame, self-worth, family or community tensions, and questions about living more openly or safely.

Neurodiversity and overload

Therapy informed by neurodevelopmental differences, masking, sensory or cognitive load and the demands of work and relationships.

Work and relationships

Burnout, conflict, grief, life transitions or feeling stuck in patterns with other people.

What the work may involve

Useful strategies, deeper understanding, or both.

Some problems respond well to targeted strategies, behavioural change and new ways of responding to thoughts or emotions. Others are tied to earlier experience, attachment, identity or patterns that repeat across situations and relationships.

Brent works collaboratively to decide where to begin. Therapy may draw from CBT, ACT, EMDR, schema therapy, DBT-informed skills and psychodynamic or interpersonal work. The approach is adjusted as your understanding and needs develop.

Your pace matters.

You will not be expected to disclose everything at once. Difficult material can be approached with preparation, consent and attention to what feels manageable.

Common questions

Before you enquire.

Do I need a diagnosis to begin therapy?

No. You can come with a clear diagnosis, a particular concern or simply a sense that something is not working. Early sessions help clarify what may be useful.

How long will therapy take?

That depends on the concern, its history, your goals and the type of work required. Brent will discuss an initial direction with you and review progress rather than assuming a fixed duration.

Can I attend by telehealth?

Telehealth appointments are available Australia-wide. Face-to-face appointments are held in the Perth CBD.
